Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic Implants

At Front Range Oral Surgery, we are proud to offer replacements for missing teeth by using zygomatic implants. Zygomatic implants can be done without bone grafting and typically only requires one surgical procedure even for those with low bone mass in the upper jaw.

What Are Zygomatic Implants?

Zygomatic implants are intended to replace the upper teeth. They can be used to replace an entire row of missing teeth, severely damaged or decayed teeth, or teeth that have become loose due to severe gum (a.k.a periodontal) disease.

Additionally, zygomatic implants are an ideal choice for patients who are not candidates for traditional dental implants due to a lack of bone mass. Zygomatic implants may also be used in coordination with traditional dental implants to replace both the upper and lower teeth.

Zygomatic implants are named for the cheekbone that they are implanted into, the zygomatic bone. Compared to the maxillary bone which also makes up the cheeks, the zygomatic bone is denser and therefore, provides a solid anchor for the implant. In general, zygomatic implants are longer and much more secure than traditional dental implants.

Benefits of Zygomatic Dental Implants:

  • They can be used even if you have low bone mass below your upper teeth
  • Reduces the need for additional dental procedures like a sinus lift
  • Replacement teeth can be attached on the same day
  • No need for bone grafting
  • An excellent option for those who may not be candidates for other dental implants
  • High success rate
  • Permanent replacement tooth option
